Episode 26 Emergency Meeting Between The Two Families

"Well then, we shall now begin the emergency meeting between the two families"

Several hours passed after that. The Degure couple and I came to the hotel room where my dad and mum were staying at.

The agenda of the meeting is Miya. There is also the fact that the truth, which was kept hidden from Miya herself and me up until now, was about to be discussed, so a tension I have never felt before envelopes the room.

"It sure has been a long time, the two of you. You could have given us a call if you were going to return"

A man with short hair sighs as he adjusts his glasses. He, who gives off the aura of a kindhearted person at first glance, is Miya's father, Shuuei Degure. As he is the owner of the café, he is a pro at coffee-making, but his cooking is middling. The food he occasionally makes out of weird ideas has repeatedly been given the X.

"I agree completely. Setsuna-senpai is the same as always, so that is a relief though"

The woman with white hair, tied into a ponytail, who calls my mum Senpai, is Shuuei's wife, Minaya-san. Minaya resembles Miya so closely that it is clear that Miya inherited most of her genes. However, Miya's is larger in the chest area.

"Rei-kun? Did you say something?"

"N-No I did not"

She is a perceptive person, so much so that I thought, from back in the day, that she might be able to read the thoughts of others. This is especially the case for thoughts regarding chests.

"Is Rei not good with Minaya-chan as usual?" My father, Ichiya, says.

A muscular man with tons of muscles that can be seen, even with his clothes on, as his skin is tanned. He has swept back his long, black hair and has a piercing in his ear.

"No, that is not the case. Or rather, enough about me. Today is"

"......Right. We did gather today to talk about Miya-chan after all"

That is right. We gathered to talk about the Miya I did not know up until now. By the way, only my dad and mum know about Cuare and the ability. Due to this, the setting we went with this time was that I felt that something was off about Miya, and my mum reached the conclusion that it would be better if the truth was revealed.

"So, how did Rei-kun find out that something about Miya was off?"

I answered Shuuei's question with the answer I prepared beforehand.

"I felt that something was off when Miya behaved like she was tempting me, I guess. The Miya up until now does behave like this sometimes, but I feel like it has clearly become way overboard"

That is the truth. Even before I moved away, she did exibit behaviors that clearly seemed like they were to tempt me, but they were not that overboard. Acts done when a female friend does not think of the male as a boy......They felt like that. However, after becoming a high schooler, she now uses her own body to tempt me and exudes a lovey-dovey aura regardless of whether there are people around us.

"At first, I did think that Miya changed once again now that she is a high schooler"

"......I too have the feeling that something is slightly off with the recent Miya" Shuuei-san said with a serious expression on his face as he placed his laptop on the table.

"This is?"

"Actually, I set up a hidden camera ever since I thought that Miya-chan might have a split personality"

Hidden camera, you say? Then, that means it will show what happened while I was sleeping.

"It seems like that also subsided after Rei-kun moved away, so I put the camera away"

"I set it back up the other day when I heard that Rei-kun would be staying over and thought, 'Maybe...' ......This is the video"

Shuuei-san played the video shown on the laptop. That video was from when Kenta, Hakumine-senpai, and I were sleeping in the guest room. At first, the video goes on and on with us sleeping soundly.

However.

"The door has opened"

My dad glares at the video. The time is just after midnight. A time when any person would normally be asleep. The one who entered......was Miya. 

Is she planning to pull a wake-up call prank?, or so one might normally think, but it was not the time for that, it can clearly be seen even through the video that she was trying to do something different.

"She is going straight for Rei......"

"Don't tell me she is going for a kiss again?"

"No, this is a pattern I have never ever seen before"

What do you mean by that?, or so Mum and Dad asked as they tilted their heads when they heard Minaya-san's words.

If this were the usual, I would have tilted my head like the two of them, but I could anticipate what she was about to do.

"This is......Don't tell me, is she cutting his nails?"

"Yes. It is, indeed"

It was as I had expected. Miya was cutting my fingernails.

She merely cuts my nails, one after the other, in silence.

However, it is here that my mum had a question, so she spoke—

"Say. The lights are not on during this, right?"

Indeed, even though the lights were not on, she was cutting my nails so skillfully that it was like she could see perfectly.

We could not see as clearly as she did, even through the video.

Even someone whose eyes have adapted to the darkness would probably find it difficult to cut nails that skillfully in the darkness. She then kisses my cheek before quietly leaving the room, seemingly satisfied.

"No, I do remember that Miya-chan has kissed Rei in the darkness ever since a long time ago, so this much is"

"But, even if her eyes have adapted, unlike the face, nails are"

While dad and mum were conversing with themselves, I played the video.

Is this my room?

"Sorry Rei-kun. I set it up without telling you"

"N-No problem"

"I did think that there were no signs of her but......Here she comes"

There was a shadow at the window while I was fast asleep.

......It's Miya.

She quietly opens the window, sleeps beside me for a while, stares at my face, and kisses me several times before leaving.

"......"

I remembered after seeing the video; Remembered that the day of the video was the same day when Miya came over to play. And, it was around this time that I did not care whatsoever about locking my windows.

That said, my room is on the second floor though?

"It was after I saw this video that I told you to lock your windows"

"Come to think of it, you kept telling me to lock my windows......"

I thought it was to prevent burglars from entering, but to think my childhood friend was trespassing.

It was not in the video, but I did stay over at the homes of Kenta and the others during long school breaks. It might be possible that, during those times as well...

"She was normal after Rei-kun moved away, so... It is my own theory, but being by Rei-kun's side might have caused her other personality to slowly resurface?"

"I see. That is possible as one of the possibilities"

"Does that mean that her other personality has resurfaced?"

"That might be possible"

The meeting continued even after that. We each came up with our own theories based on our own thoughts.

Time went by, minute by minute, and the meeting ended without us reaching a specific conclusion.

Rather, what expression should I have on my face when I meet Miya from now on......
