Episode 27 Let's Try Luring Her Out

The morning after the emergency meeting between our families.

My dad and mum have come over to hang out.

They contacted me in advance this time, so I was well-prepared.

We were going to talk about what is to come, so I quickly ate my breakfast, prepared drinks for two, and brought them over. A hot coffee for Dad; An iced coffee for Mum. By the way, the hot coffee is instant coffee, and the iced coffee is a packet drink.

"Hm. So you are the person Setsuna told me about, Cuare-chan"

"Hellooo"

My dad and mum were sitting on the side facing the entrance. Cuare and I were sitting opposite them. My dad only heard of Cuare from conversations, so this is their first time meeting.

*sipp*, or so Cuare sipped her green tea as she thought.

"Perhaps it is better if we do not think too deeply about it?"

"What do you mean? Mummy"

"It is true that Miya is doing things that resemble crimes, but her target, in the end, is Rei. And what she is doing is sleeping next to him and kissing him. In that case, wouldn't it be fine if we left her as is?"

After hearing Mum's words, Dad looked at me with a serious gaze.

Miya has always been my childhood friend;  I went through my life thinking of her as either that or a trusted friend. So even if they told me to go out with her all of a sudden......

"Well, I fear that there will be various complications at a later time if we make them go out forcefully, so let us head in the direction of not doing that for now"

"But, what will you do? Rei has learnt about Miya's secret, so you cannot go on like usual, right?"

That's right. Even if I interact with her normally, I will still recall her split personality. If it comes down to that, I will eventually mess up, and Miya might even catch on.

"In that case, how about luring that personality out?"

"Luring out?"

We perked our ears when we heard Cuare's suggestion.

"We hung out a lot together with just the two of us in the past, right?"

"Well, that isss true"

The plan is on.

According to the information my dad and the others have gathered up until now, there is an interval after Miya's second personality resurfaces. And, the chance of the second personality resurfacing increases the more she spends time together with me. 

The shortest interval: two days. Additionally, we have not met in three years this time, so she might resurface very soon.

Due to this, I invited Miya out on a date to lure her second personality out.

Two of us alone. It is like a date, but what we are doing is not that different from what we have done up until now. 

Whimsically walking around town with just the two of us, going into stores, and eating when our tiny stomachs are hungry.

I do not want to meet any acquaintances, so we took a train to a place that is slightly further away.

We are currently having a match at a batting center. The speed of the ball is a hundred kilometers and we are competing based on a simple rule—how many times we can hit it.

Miya has a higher athletic ability than normal people, so much so that she would probably be able to play any sport if she wanted to.

It is whether we can hit it, so bunts count as well.
