Episode 7 She is Inviting Me Without Getting Discouraged

I was suddenly invited by Kokone to a date.

It was extremely suspicious when she said it, so I rejected her.

However, Kokone did not give up.

She came up to me early in the morning the next day and invited me. When I was heading back from school, I found a love letter-like invitation from her that she had placed in my shoebox before I had realized it.

Anyway, Kokone was not discouraged. 

She invited me to a date countless times.

This continued for around three days, and an invitation to a date had been sent to my messaging app right now, when I am eating breakfast.

"......Haa"

I did think about ghosting her, but I replied, rejecting her with "Sorry" before putting my phone on the table.

"Sure is tough being popular, huh," Cuare said, even though she knew the situation, as she found it amusing.

"This didn't happen because I'm popular"

"But it's an invitation to a date, right? Ah, another serving"

"I don't know what in the world she'd do to me if I accept her invitation"

I wonder how long this will continue for, or so I thought as I filled her rice bowl with rice.

This is definitely a trap. An invitation to a date from a girl is normally something to be happy about for a boy who is in the middle of his adolescence.

However, she is a ninja who finds me suspicious.

Who knows what she'd do even if it's a date...... No, don't tell me she just wants to go on a normal date. But it's not like I've gotten that close with Kokone......

"Heeey"

What kind of way would she try next? Considering that she's a ninja, she might try an unexpected way of inviting me.

In the first place, what can ninjas in this world do? When it comes to two-dimensional ninjas, they do stuff that's almost like magic but......n-no way, right?

"Whoa-!? W-What're you doing!" I shouted at Cuare, who tried to press my face against her face suddenly.

"Time," Cuare said as she looked straight into my eyes.

"Huh?"

Time......Ah-.

"No good-!"

I could not help but think too deeply.

I hurriedly took my bag and headed for the door.

"You forgottt your smartphone"

Cuare brought the smartphone I left on the table over to me while I was wearing my shoes.

"Sorry! Ah, dinner today"

"Pleeease cook a meal that has eggs"

"Got it! Well then, I'll be off!"

"Cyaaa"

Well, I left later than usual, but I should make it if I run.

That said, I feel like there have been quite a lot of troublesome things recently.

Is this because I got the ability? Or is it because I'm the protagonist......

I was shocked by her way of inviting me yesterday.

Nothing happened until I returned to my apartment, so I thought, "Guess she had given up already?" and that was when I was shocked.

She had placed a paper on the floor in front of the entrance that wrote "I want to go on a date". What's more, she had also placed another one of the Karaage I had given her on it.

She has finally included things too. If she's going this far, I'm kinda interested in what she'll do next, but......

"Heyy, Rei-kun. What's wrong? Standing there and spacing out"

A woman wearing an apron talked to me when I was spacing out and looking up at the sky.

She has long, light purple hair and amber-colored eyes. She approached me while she had a lollipop in her mouth and was carrying a bamboo broom on her shoulder.

"Caretaker-san. Good morning"

"Yes, good morning"

This person is the caretaker of my apartment, Kanami Shinohara-san. She has an air that is somewhat like a mother's and is thirty-two years old.

It seems like her husband was originally managing this place, but he passed away several years ago, so Kanami-san is now managing this place in his place.

"Hey, hey. Your necktie is crooked"

How sloppyy, or so she said as she laughed and fixed my tie.

"Alright, this is good. You can consult me if you got something you're worried about, Boy. It's an adult's duty to guide the young after all"

"I think Kanami-san is still quite young though"

"Ahahaha! You say things that make me happy, huh! You!!"

"Ow! I'm telling you it hurts......!"

Perhaps she was really happy. She smiled while she kept smacking my back.

"Some advice from me to such a nice child," She said as she placed her hand on my head.

"It's good to worry about things, but worrying too much about things is not good"

"Eh?"

"You're still young. Go for broke!!"

"No, getting broke is......"

I thought that she would give me some good advice until the halfway point, but to think that it's the "Go for broke" declaration.

"Ahahaha! I think that kind of life is okay though. Well, in other words. You can learn something from clashing against someone"

"From clashing against someone......"

"That's right. This middle-aged lady shall give you a sweet!"

She stuck her hand into the pocket of her apron, took out a grape-flavored lollipop, and had my hand hold it.

"Well then, do your besttt, Boy"

Kanami-san said that and walked back to her own room.

"......Thank you very much for the advice! I'll be going!!"

When I gave my thanks, Kanami-san waved her hand without turning back.

I can learn something by clashing against someone, huh. I don't know if something is up, but trying to clash once is an option, huh.

I took action right away.

I took out my smartphone and sent Kokone a message.

I sent.

When I did that, my message quickly became read, as if she was waiting all along, and there was a reply.

<Is that alright?>

<There is no way you reply with "Is that alright?" after inviting me so many times>

<Then, are you alright with next weekend?>

<Yeap. Decide the timing and place on your end>

<Okay. Date, looking forward to it>

I imagined what would happen on that day as I headed to school.
